White on white. Winter.

A frosty morning, followed by snowing, or pretending to snow today. Hopeless! The sun has come out, time for a dog walk.

These pictures are from mid-January, when it snowed seriously for a few days.

Near Chaulieu, South Manche.

A Christmas Dog.

My Golden Retriever Strelka found just the place for a post-Christmas snooze.

A Dog Walk in the Bocage.

A typical sunken lane in Norman Bocage.

Farmers look after them. They protect fields from erosion, give timber and firewood and provide habitat for wild birds and animals.

And they are simply beautiful.

Snowy.

This is a portrait of my dog Strelka. He is a Golden Retriever with a very light coat, practically white.

It started snowing when I was running with him the other day in the woods. Strelka fell behind to sniff around. When I looked back I couldn't see him, then I saw him, blending with the snow.
