The Chestnut / Le Châtaignier.

On the road near my house, this is a wonderful huge sweet chestnut tree that covers itself in golden bloom every year in mid July.

It is not the horse chestnut conkers tree that flowers in pink garlands in Spring, this one produces edible nuts covered in spiky shells.

Oak Tree in Winter. (War and Peace)

An oak tree in Winter. Reminded me of Prince Andrei admiring one in 'War and Peace', first with reserve, then with passion. (Near Chaulieu, South Manche).

Ginger in Winter.

It's a blustery day but there's a gingerhead that is refusing to shed its cheerful gingerness.

There is a botanical explanation. Still, I like to think it's her character that is different from the others. I like to think I am like her too.
